The ultimate expression of conspicuous consumption will forever be the boat. It’s an expensive vehicle you only use for about half of the year and even then a handful of weekends. For all that expense you now have a vehicle that you have to maintain not only so it doesn’t strand you in the lake but doesn’t also sink as soon as you get on it. And that’s just a regular boat. When you want your boating to be more like a party you can’t really leave or a cruise ship where you get to make the call when it comes to ports of call, then what you want is a yacht. It’s only a matter of time when it comes to collecting massive pleasure boats that someone is gonna want to have the biggest, or longest, or tallest, or fastest yacht in town. That town is the Cayman Islands where over 12 hundred of the world's yachts are flagged. From the current record holder Azzam to the one that held the record for over a century, the El Mahrousa, the yacht has only gotten bigger and more extravagant. Now there are yachts that contain submarines, yachts with snow rooms with snow machines inside, helicopter hangers, and swimming pools that can become dance floors.
