Movie stars may get all the glitz and glamor but the real money is on the small screen. Actors on a successful show can pull down big paydays per episode and that’s just the beginning. As the shows enter syndication then residuals start to roll in. That life gets even better if the show is created by the star, then the money starts to get really big. That kind of money eventually leads to more opportunities and then even more money, often in the form of production companies that create and own even more shows and collect even more residuals. Keep the red carpet, go in for Must See TV and For Your Consideration campaigns. What does one do with all that money? There are the usual stalwarts of massive multimillion dollar estates and a cool collection of wheels, but that’s not going to really stand out. Some stars, like Gabriel Iglesias who collects VW Buses or Jerry Seinfeld who goes all in for Porsches, adopt a theme to their collections. Actors like Kaley Couco continue their pre-acting passions like horse riding or Oprah Winfrey and her search for the perfect bathtub. Some, like Jennifer Aniston, spend big on their money maker spending thousands a year on cosmetics. What obsession would you indulge if someone started handing over $1 million per episode to do a full 22 episode season? What would fill your spacious halls?
