Near its Silicon Valley headquarters, Facebook is building a billion dollar city with 1,729 apartments, a supermarket, a hotel, and new offices. The new Willow Park city is proposed by Facebook and Signature Development Group. A single-use industrial and warehouse complex currently stands on a 59-acre site adjacent to Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California. Several of the existing buildings on the site are owned by Facebook. About 320 of the 1,729 apartments will be affordable housing, while about 120 will be senior housing units. Plans for the new city also include a supermarket, pharmacy, cafes and restaurants, and a 193-room hotel. In addition to a town square, there will be multiple parks and a two-acre elevated park similar to New York City's High Line. Facebook plans to build 1.25 million square feet of new office space as well as meeting and conference rooms.
