We're looking at the world’s most dangerous mansions and houses today. All over the world, there are people for whom home is not a safe space, physically speaking. The Katskhi Pillar in Georgia requires a 130 climb on a sketchy iron ladder to get in and out. The Drina House in Serbia was built on a rock and sits in the middle of a moving river - the goodness - that home has been drowned by the river several times, but the people of Serbia keep rebuilding it. New York has Greenwich Village’s House of Death, haunted by Mark Twain and a cat, as well as Just Enough Room Island Home, which sits on an impossibly tiny island in Alexandria Bay. There are homes over 36,000 feet above sea level in the Tibetan Plateau (so high up airplanes won’t fly there), and homes in Greenland where there’s 3 months of day and 3 months of depressing night every year. There’s La Jument, a lighthouse home surrounded by wild maritime waters off the coast of France, and the Maldives bungalows which are in perpetual danger of drowning. The homes in Lake Kivu are at the mercy of a potent underwater volcano. Extreme weather survivalists will appreciate The Cold Pole in Russia, and even the biggest heat fanatics wouldn’t survive what the Afar Nomads have continued to survive in the 130 degree-plus Ethiopian Afar Desert.
