Richard Branson Transformed His Private Island Into An Expensive Resort

Welcome back, Richest fans! Not only does Richard Branson have a massive business conglomerate in the form of the Virgin Group, but he’s also one of the pioneers leading the private space race with Virgin Galactic. Yet during his downtime, he also has his own private Caribbean piece of paradise, Necker Island. Not only can Branson use it, but it’s also been turned into a luxury resort for the rich and famous. And today, we’re going to take an in-depth look at Necker. We’ll explore its history, how it was turned into a resort, the various features within, and the cost to stay there.

We kick off by examining the previous owner, John Lyttelton, 11th Viscount Cobham, who ran into some money issues. We’ll see how Branson offered a fraction of the asking price and was promptly rejected. Yet a year later, he would become the brand-new owner of Necker. We’ll see how he transformed it into a resort.
