These Trains Were Made For Millionaires

We cover a lot of amazing cars, yachts and private jets but we don’t cover nearly enough trains. That’s a real shame because luxury trains have been around for well over a hundred years, offering some of the finest service out there. These are trips to some of the finest locales in the entire world, with premium food, liquor and sleeping arrangements. While many people decide to vacation on cruise ships, these fancy train rides make you feel less like a tourist and more like an aristocrat out of the 1800’s who is touring the world. It is a completely different style of luxury that harkens back to a time nearly forgotten in the modern world. One that we really need to revisit.

Some of these rides, like the one that boasts it makes you feel like a Maharaja, are basically the finest hotels you could ride across multiple time zones. Then there are the ones that offer a cinematic flair. Filmmaker Wes Anderson has actually collaborated on a train car that looks lifted right out of one of his movies. Then there’s the real-life train that was used in the Harry Potter films as the Hogwarts Express. It offers a magical view in real life of the Scottish highlands, even if it doesn’t finish the journey at Hogwarts. Then there’s the fastest commercial train in the world which costs about as much as a movie ticket to shoot you across China at amazing speeds.

Then there are the ridiculous trains that were built with the hopes of providing a view into the future. These used jet and propeller technology to power their trains but neither proved to be feasible at all.
